Macroom, The "Capital of Muskerry" boasts the beautiful River Sullane, running virtually through the centre of town, and added to the River Lee and the River Lawney which also flow nearby, it is no wonder fishing is a big part of life in this area

The town of Macroom boasts some beautiful walks and one of its greatest amenities is the Castle Grounds. These grounds comprise of the local G.A.A grounds, a top class golf course and they are also home to Bishop McEganCollege.  On the approach into town from the Cork side a large sculpture of a bronze bull denotes the long standing friendship and reliance that the farming community and the local townspeople enjoy from each other.

Situated on the N22 midway between Cork City and Killarney,  Macroom  has a colourful history and a vast range of activities for the visitor, making this an ideal destination for a relaxing vacation in County Cork.  Enjoy fishing in the local rivers or you can also enjoy hill walking or cycling, as the area has various trails and pathways.  The Gateway and tower are all that remain of MacroomCastle, which was granted to Admiral William Penn, (father of the founder of Pennsylvania U.S.A.) by Cromwell.

Macroom is twinned with the Breton town of Bubry, and Marcallo con Casone in Italy
