Schools in Macroom As in every community throughout the world education is a major priority, and Macroom is no different. The educated children of today are the future and the progressive leaders the town of Macroom will be indebted to in the future. There are at least three pre-schools (Montessori) in Macroom and each helps the small child in their first experience of school-going activities. One of these is the very popular Macroom Family Resource Centre situated in Masseytown, Macroom. There are a number of primary schools in the Macroom area. In the centre of town we have St. Colmans Boys School and St. Josephs Primary School. St. Colmans Primary School is for boys from post first class age up to sixth class. This school also caters for children with Autism and the work carried out by all concerned in this school is second to none.
